Old Masters was Unable to Win Mary the Diamond Bracelet
Easter Monday at Devonport turned out to be a disappointing day all for Tamar Racing Team runners.

Last start winners Follow Me, Old Masters and Rock This Party could only manage a third between them, which came from the Elesha Spillane trained Follow Me.

Elesha was confident that Follow Me could make it two in a row but doubts arose before the race.

"He was a bit unsettled in the the mounting yard, which is unusual for him", Spillane commented after the race suggesting this was a sign the horse needed a break.

"He traveled well but when he needed to sprint he ran around a bit and then layed in".

Spillane will now give Follow Me a well deserved break after a very consistent preparation.

The Ken Hanson trained Rock This Party was unable to overcome his wide gate finishing well back in the 1175m 0-66 handicap.

"He needed the run, condition wise he got away from me a bit after having a few weeks off", Hanson said after the race.

"I expect him to be very competitive later in the month", he went on to say.

Old Masters was sent out favourite in the 990m handicap but was under pressure a long way from home and was beaten by 12 lengths.

"He got very stirred up before the start when another runner broke through the barriers, and this was most likely due to him training off", Ryan said.

Ryan had suggested to Tamar Team Members that he planned to win the diamond bracelet trophy for his wife Mary but this was not to be.

"Mary still got her bracelet, it just happened to be made of bailing twine", Ryan joked.
